In the year of 1996, “The Cross School of Education” was established. The earliest division – the School of Music was opened, the school was located in the City of West Covina, Los Angeles.  In the year of 2001, the School of Music moved into the new facility as part of the “The Cross, Preschool and Kindergarten”. Since 1996, hundreds of students graduated from our School of Music. Most of our students had won various regional piano competition, honor recital and certificate awarded by the California Music Teacher Association each year.

Because of the musical training acquired in music instrument performances, our students had developed self motivation and discipline in their academic studies. Our students not only excel in their academic achievement but also are excellent musician. There are numerous students that are currently servicing as government official in Washington D.C., some servicing in the medical fields as physicians, various scientists, computer fields, accounting fields; in education and servicing in all level of the societies and communities using their talents and knowledge to bring service to others.

Our current music center is one of the piano/violin testing centers in the San Gabriel Area.  We have 200 to 300 hundred piano students being tested in 10 of our piano rooms annually.  The testing criteria include piano/violin performing, music theory, ear training, sight reading and piano technique. Piano and Violin recitals are major events which required the students to participate at least twice per year; all of the advanced students are requiring having their own piano/violin recital as the graduate requirement.

The Cross School of Music has piano competition within the school which allow students to have experience in a smaller and less competitive environment to train our students and to build up their confidence toward performance and to prepare them to the real regional competition in the greater Los Angeles area.

In the school of music, students start to learn piano and violin starting from as young as 4 years old to high school students and college level.  The Certificate of Merit test starts from kindergarten all the way to college.  There are 10 levels of testing, each level required one whole year of study to prepare our students to pass the examination.

The school of music is in the processing of forming a youth chamber string orchestra. This group of string students are consists of elementary to high school students.  Directed by Ms Stefanie Tsao, graduate from Manhattan School of Music and New York University with B.M and M. M. degrees in Music.

The Cross Christian School is offering private music classes both in piano and violin.  Classes are taught in Music Theory and Piano/Violin Technique.  There are two recitals a year where students will perform and in the spring the CM test will be given for ranking and certification.  We are very proud of our students!
